Immigration (Amendment No. 3) Regulations 1997

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 55(1) of the Immigration Act, the Minister for Home Affairs hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Immigration (Amendment No. 3) Regulations 1997 and shall come into operation on 25th July 1997.

Deletion and substitution of regulation 34

2. Regulation 34 of the Immigration Regulations (Rg 1) is deleted and the following regulation substituted therefor:

“Order of detention

34. An order of detention made under section 34(1) of the Act shall be in Form 34 if it is to be signed by the Controller, and in Form 34A if it is to be signed by the Deputy Controller (Operations) duly authorised under section 3 of the Act.”.

Amendment of First Schedule

3. The First Schedule to the Immigration Regulations is amended by inserting, immediately after Form 34, the following Form:
