Road Traffic Act
(Chapter 276)
Road Traffic (Recovery of Vehicle Licence Fees and Costs) (Amendment) Rules 2000
In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 34 and 140 of the Road Traffic Act, the Minister for Communications and Information Technology hereby makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules may be cited as the Road Traffic (Recovery of Vehicle Licence Fees and Costs) (Amendment) Rules 2000 and shall come into operation on 26th January 2000.
Amendment of rule 2
2.  Rule 2(1) of the Road Traffic (Recovery of Vehicle Licence Fees and Costs) Rules (R 30) (referred to in these Rules as the principal Rules) is amended by deleting the words “the Schedule” in the last line and substituting the words “the First Schedule”.
New rule 3
3.  The principal Rules are amended by inserting, immediately after rule 2, the following rule:
“Storage charge
3.—(1)  Where a vehicle has been seized under section 30, 95 or 95A of the Act, a storage charge at the rates specified in the second column of the Second Schedule shall be payable by the registered owner or any person who was at the time of seizure in charge or control of the vehicle for each day or part thereof during which the vehicle is in the Registrar’s possession.
(2)  The Registrar may in his discretion waive, in whole or in part, the storage charge referred to in paragraph (1).”.
Amendment of Schedule and new Second Schedule
4.  The Schedule to the principal Rules is amended —
(a)by deleting the word “THE” and substituting the word “FIRST”; and
(b)by inserting, immediately after the First Schedule, the following Schedule:
