Rapid Transit Systems (Amendment) Regulations 2008

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 45 of the Rapid Transit Systems Act, the Land Transport Authority of Singapore, with the approval of the Minister for Transport, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Rapid Transit Systems (Amendment) Regulations 2008 and shall come into operation on 4th July 2008.

Amendment of regulation 2

2. Regulation 2 of the Rapid Transit Systems Regulations (Rg 1) (referred to in these Regulations as the principal Regulations) is amended by deleting the definition of “concession ticket”.

Deletion and substitution of regulation 31

3. Regulation 31 of the principal Regulations is deleted and the following regulation substituted therefor:

“Loss of ticket and transfer of article or goods

31.—(1) Where a person in the paid area has, on his own initiative, reported that he has lost his ticket and has satisfied the Authority, its licensee or any person appointed by the Authority or its licensee of the loss, he shall pay to the Authority, its licensee or the appointed person an administrative charge and upon such payment, he shall be allowed to leave the paid area.

(2) No person shall for the purpose of any trade or business transfer any article or goods between the paid area and unpaid area unless the article or goods is taken by a person through a ticket gate.”.

Amendment of regulation 32

4. Regulation 32(1) of the principal Regulations is amended by inserting, immediately after the words “these Regulations”, the words “, section 24C of the Public Transport Council Act (Cap. 259B),”.

Deletion of regulation 35

5. Regulation 35 of the principal Regulations is deleted.

Deletion of regulation 40

6. Regulation 40 of the principal Regulations is deleted.

Amendment of regulation 53

7. Regulation 53 of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting “35,”.

Amendment of Schedule

8. The Schedule to the principal Regulations is amended by deleting the items relating to regulations 31 and 35 and their entries and substituting the following item and entry:

“

31. Transferring article or goods between paid and unpaid areas without going through gates

$2,000.

”.
