Road Traffic
(International Circulation)
(Amendment) Rules 2018

In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 25, 34 and 140 of the Road Traffic Act, the Minister for Transport makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules are the Road Traffic (International Circulation) (Amendment) Rules 2018 and come into operation on 19 January 2018.

Amendment of rule 20E

2. Rule 20E of the Road Traffic (International Circulation) Rules (R 7) is amended —

(a)

by inserting, immediately after paragraph (1A), the following paragraph:

“(1B) For the purpose of counting the number of days under paragraphs (1) and (1A), where a vehicle is seized by any authority under any written law on a date that is before, on or after 19 January 2018 —

(a)

in the event the vehicle subsequently leaves Singapore on or after 19 January 2018, any day that falls within the following dates (both dates inclusive) must be disregarded:

(i)	the date on which the vehicle is seized by the authority;
(ii)	the date on which the vehicle is released by the authority, whether such date is before, on or after, 19 January 2018; or

(b)

in the event the vehicle is subsequently sold or disposed of by the authority in accordance with any written law on or after 19 January 2018, any day that falls within the following dates (both dates inclusive) must be disregarded:

(i)	the date on which the vehicle is seized by the authority;
(ii)	the date on which the vehicle is sold or disposed of by the authority.”; and

(b)

by deleting the words “paragraph (1)” in paragraph (2) and substituting the words “paragraphs (1) and (1A)”.
