(Use Classes) (Amendment)
Rules 2020

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 61 of the Planning Act, the Minister for National Development makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules are the Planning (Use Classes) (Amendment) Rules 2020 and come into operation on 1 June 2020.

Amendment of rule 2

2. Rule 2 of the Planning (Use Classes) Rules (R 2) is amended —

(a)

by deleting the words “licensed as a child care centre under section 4 of the Child Care Centres Act (Cap. 37A)” in paragraph (a) of the definition of “child care centre” and substituting the words “licensed as an early childhood development centre under the Early Childhood Development Centres Act 2017 (Act 19 of 2017)”;

(b)

by deleting the word “development” in paragraph (b) of the definition of “commercial school” and substituting the word “enrichment”;

(c)

by deleting the words “or university” in the definition of “commercial school” and substituting the words “, university, child care centre or foreign system school”;

(d)

by inserting, immediately after the definition of “existing use”, the following definition:

“ “foreign system school” has the meaning given by the Planning (Development of Land Authorisation for Specified Property) Notification 2015 (G.N. No. S 411/2015);”;

(e)

by deleting the words “section 2 of the Massage Establishments Act (Cap. 173) that is required to be licensed under section 4(1) of that Act” in the definition of “massage establishment” and substituting the words “section 2(1) of the Massage Establishments Act 2017 (Act 45 of 2017) that is required to be licensed under section 5(1) of that Act”; and

(f)

by inserting, immediately after the words “ornamental fish” in the definition of “pet shop”, the words “or a building used for pet breeding, pet day care, pet boarding or as a pet hotel”.
