Road Traffic (Driver Improvement Points System) (Amendment) Rules 2000

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 45(2) of the Road Traffic Act, the Minister for Home Affairs hereby makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules may be cited as the Road Traffic (Driver Improvement Points System) (Amendment) Rules 2000 and shall come into operation on 1st February 2000.

Amendment of Schedule

2. The Schedule to the Road Traffic (Driver Improvement Points System) Rules (R 25) is amended —

(a)

by deleting the demerit points to be awarded for the offences under items (14), (21), (24), (26), (33) and (39), and substituting the following demerits points respectively:

6, 6, 6, 12, 4 and 4; and

(b)

by inserting, immediately after item (42), the following item:

“

(43) Reversing unnecessarily along an expressway [Rule 7, Road Traffic (Expressway Traffic) Rules]

”.
