(Power-Assisted Bicycles — Approval)
(Amendment) Rules 2017

In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 6 and 90 of the Road Traffic Act, the Land Transport Authority of Singapore makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules are the Road Traffic (Power-Assisted Bicycles — Approval) (Amendment) Rules 2017 and come into operation on 14 August 2017.

Amendment of rule 2

2. Rule 2 of the Road Traffic (Power‑Assisted Bicycles — Approval) Rules 2004 (G.N. No. S 768/2004) is amended —

(a)	by deleting the semi‑colon at the end of the definition of “EN 15194” and substituting a full‑stop; and
(b)	by deleting the definition of “power‑assisted bicycle”.

Amendment of rule 3

3. Rule 3 of the Road Traffic (Power‑Assisted Bicycles —Approval) Rules 2004 is amended —

(a)	by deleting the words “No power‑assisted bicycle shall be used on a road” in paragraph (1) and substituting the words “No person may keep or use a power‑assisted bicycle”; and
(b)	by deleting the words “before use” in the rule heading.
