(Expressway Traffic) (Amendment)
Rules 2011

In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 114 and 140(1) of the Road Traffic Act, the Minister for Home Affairs hereby makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules may be cited as the Road Traffic (Expressway Traffic) (Amendment) Rules 2011 and shall come into operation on 17th August 2011.

Amendment of rule 14

2. Rule 14 of the Road Traffic (Expressway Traffic) Rules (R 23) is amended —

(a)

by deleting the words “2.5 metres” in paragraph (1)(g) and substituting the words “2.6 metres”; and

(b)

by inserting, immediately after paragraph (2), the following paragraph:

“(3) Nothing in paragraph (1)(g) shall prohibit a person from driving or causing or permitting to be driven in or causing to remain in any road tunnel or expressway tunnel, any vehicle whose overall width (including any load) exceeds 2.6 metres, where the use of such vehicle in the road tunnel or expressway tunnel is authorised by and in accordance with a trip permit or a term permit granted under rule 5 of the Road Traffic (Control of Width and Length of Motor Vehicles) Rules 2010 (G.N. No. S 626/2010).”.
