Employment of Foreign Manpower
(Levy) (Amendment) Order 2020

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 11(1) of the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act, the Minister for Manpower makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1. This Order is the Employment of Foreign Manpower (Levy) (Amendment) Order 2020 and comes into operation on 1 July 2020.

Amendment of paragraph 2

2. Paragraph 2 of the Employment of Foreign Manpower (Levy) Order 2011 (G.N. No. S 371/2011) is amended —

(a)

by deleting paragraph (a) of the definition of “higher skilled process construction worker”;

(b)

by deleting the words “whose work permit is issued or renewed on or after 1 June 2017, and” in paragraph (b) of the definitions of “higher skilled process construction worker” and “higher skilled process maintenance worker”;

(c)

by inserting, immediately after sub‑paragraph (iii) of paragraph (b) of the definition of “higher skilled process construction worker”, the following sub‑paragraph:

“(iv)

the process construction worker has such academic qualifications that the Minister determines suitable to regard the process construction worker as a higher skilled process construction worker;”;

(d)

by deleting paragraph (a) of the definition of “higher skilled process maintenance worker”; and

(e)

by inserting, immediately after sub‑paragraph (iii) of paragraph (b) of the definition of “higher skilled process maintenance worker”, the following sub‑paragraph:

“(iv)

the process maintenance worker has such academic qualifications that the Minister determines suitable to regard the process maintenance worker as a higher skilled process maintenance worker;”.
