Merchant Shipping (Safety Convention)
(Amendment) Regulations 2001
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 100 of the Merchant Shipping Act, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, with the approval of the Minister for Communications and Information Technology, hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Safety Convention) (Amendment) Regulations 2001 and shall come into operation on 1st January 2002.
Amendment of Regulation 28 of Chapter III
2.  Regulation 28 of Chapter III of the Merchant Shipping (Safety Convention) Regulations (Rg 11) is amended by deleting the words “Passenger ships” in paragraph (b) and substituting the words “Ro-ro passenger ships”.
Amendment of First Schedule
3.  The First Schedule to the Merchant Shipping (Safety Convention) Regulations is amended by inserting, immediately above the words “Oil tanker” against the heading “Type of ship” in the Form for Cargo Ship Safety Construction Certificate and in the Form for Cargo Ship Safety Equipment Certificate, the words “Bulk carrier”.
