Gas (Supply)
(Amendment) Regulations 2019

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 96 of the Gas Act, the Energy Market Authority of Singapore, with the approval of the Minister for Trade and Industry, makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations are the Gas (Supply) (Amendment) Regulations 2019 and come into operation on 1 September 2019.

New regulation 40A

2. The Gas (Supply) Regulations (Rg 1) are amended by inserting, immediately before regulation 41 in Part VI, the following regulation:

“Unique identity information of individuals

40A.—(1) A gas retailer or an agent of the gas retailer must collect and use an individual’s unique identity information —

(a)	to open for the individual an account for the supply of gas, or to close such an account; or
(b)	to connect the individual’s premises to the gas pipeline network.

(2) An individual’s unique identity information for the purposes of paragraph (1) is any of the following:

(a)	the individual’s NRIC number;
(b)	the individual’s foreign identification number or FIN;
(c)	the individual’s work permit number.”.
