(Amendment)
Rules 2016
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 20(1) of the Poisons Act, the Minister for Health makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules are the Poisons (Amendment) Rules 2016 and come into operation on 1 April 2016.
Amendment of rule 2
2.  Rule 2(1) of the Poisons Rules (R 1) is amended by inserting, immediately after the definition of “codeine cough preparation”, the following definition:
“ “current edition”, in relation to any publication which describes a herbal substance in raw form, means an edition which is current at the time the herbal substance is sold or supplied, and includes any amendment, addition or deletion made to that edition of the publication up to that time;”.
Amendment of Second Schedule
3.  Group II of the Second Schedule to the Poisons Rules is amended by inserting, immediately after the words “Chinese proprietary medicines” under the heading “Substance or article in which exempted” against the item “Berberine; its quarternary compounds; their salts”, the words “; herbal substances in raw form described in the current edition of “A Dictionary of Chinese Pharmacy” <<中药大辞典>> or “The Chinese Herbal Medicine Materia Medica” <<本草纲目>>”.
