Child Development Co-Savings Act
(CHAPTER 38A)
Child Development Co-Savings
(Amendment No. 2) Regulations 2013
In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 3, 7 and 20 of the Child Development Co-Savings Act, the Minister for Social and Family Development hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Child Development Co‑Savings (Amendment No. 2) Regulations 2013 and shall come into operation on 1st October 2013.
Amendment of regulation 2
2.  Regulation 2 of the Child Development Co‑Savings Regulations (Rg 2) (referred to in these Regulations as the principal Regulations) is amended —
(a)by inserting, immediately after the definition of “birth order”, the following definition:
“ “Cash Grant” means a cash grant, other than a Child Development Credit, made by the Government from time to time under regulation 6B for the development of a child;”;
(b)by deleting the definition of “optical shop” and substituting the following definition:
“ “optical shop” means —
(a)a business which is engaged in the retail sale of optical appliances and which is registered under any written law administered by the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority; or
(b)an optometry centre that is managed or operated by a polytechnic;”; and
(c)by inserting, immediately after the definition of “pharmacy”, the following definition:
“ “polytechnic” means a polytechnic established by a public Act;”.
Amendment of regulation 4
3.  Regulation 4(3) of the principal Regulations is amended by inserting, immediately after the words “Child Development Credit” in sub‑paragraph (a)(v), the words “or Cash Grant”.
Amendment of regulation 5
4.  Regulation 5 of the principal Regulations is amended —
(a)by inserting, immediately after the words “Child Development Credits” in paragraph (5), the words “and Cash Grants”; and
(b)by inserting, immediately after the words “Child Development Credit” in paragraph (7)(ba), the words “or Cash Grant, as the case may be”.
Amendment of regulation 6B
5.  Regulation 6B of the principal Regulations is amended —
(a)by inserting, immediately after the words “Child Development Credit” in paragraph (1), the words “or any Cash Grant”;
(b)by inserting, immediately after the words “Child Development Credit” in paragraph (2), the words “or Cash Grant”; and
(c)by deleting the regulation heading and substituting the following regulation heading:
Child Development Credit and Cash Grant”.
Amendment of regulation 7
6.  Regulation 7(5) of the principal Regulations is amended by inserting, immediately after the words “Child Development Credit” in sub‑paragraphs (a) and (b), the words “or Cash Grant”.
Amendment of regulation 10
7.  Regulation 10 of the principal Regulations is amended —
(a)by inserting, immediately after the words “Child Development Credits” in paragraphs (2)(a)(i)(C) and (ia) and (3C)(a)(i)(C) and (ii), the words “and Cash Grants”; and
(b)by inserting, immediately after the words “Child Development Credit” in paragraph (2)(b)(i), the words “and Cash Grant”.
Amendment of regulation 11
8.  Regulation 11(9) of the principal Regulations is amended —
(a)by deleting the word “or” at the end of sub‑paragraph (c)(vii); and
(b)by deleting sub‑paragraph (viii) of sub‑paragraph (c) and substituting the following sub‑paragraphs:
(viii)in the case of an optical shop, other than an optometry centre that is managed or operated by a polytechnic, ceases to be registered under the Business Registration Act (Cap. 32), the Companies Act (Cap. 50) or any other written law; or
(ix)in the case of an optometry centre that is managed or operated by a polytechnic, ceases to be an optometry centre managed or operated by the polytechnic,”.
