Fire Safety (Fire Certificate)
(Designated Buildings) (Amendment) Order 2016
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 20(1B) of the Fire Safety Act, the Minister for Home Affairs makes the following Order:
Citation and commencement
1.  This Order is the Fire Safety (Fire Certificate) (Designated Buildings) (Amendment) Order 2016 and comes into operation on 12 December 2016.
Amendment of paragraph 2
2.  Paragraph 2 of the Fire Safety (Fire Certificate) (Designated Buildings) Order 2016 (G.N. No. S 97/2016) is amended by inserting, immediately after the definition of “engineered timber building”, the following definition:
“ “fully automated mechanised car park” means a building or part of a building that is used as a car park where the parking and retrieving of vehicles is done by fully automated mechanical means;”.
New paragraph 5A
3.  The Fire Safety (Fire Certificate) (Designated Buildings) Order 2016 is amended by inserting, immediately after paragraph 5, the following paragraph:
Fully automated mechanised car parks
5A.—(1)  A fully automated mechanised car park that —
(a)is installed with a fire protection system; and
(b)meets any of the conditions in sub-paragraph (2),
is designated to be subject to section 20 of the Act.
(2)  The conditions in sub-paragraph (1)(b) are as follows:
(a)the total floor area of the car parking decks exceeds 200 square metres;
(b)the cubical extent of the fully automated mechanised car park exceeds 1,400 cubic metres;
(c)the parking height of the fully automated mechanised car park above ground exceeds 10 metres;
(d)there are more than 2 parking levels below ground;
(e)where any part of the car parking levels is below ground, the total parking height of the fully automated mechanised car park exceeds 14 metres.
(3)  For the purposes of sub-paragraph (2), the cubical extent and parking height of the fully automated mechanised car park is calculated or measured (as the case may be) in the manner prescribed in the Fire Code.”.
