Children and Young Persons
(Weekend Detention) (Amendment)
Regulations 2014
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 88 of the Children and Young Persons Act, the Minister for Social and Family Development hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Children and Young Persons (Weekend Detention) (Amendment) Regulations 2014 and shall come into operation on 1 October 2014.
Amendment of regulation 2
2.  Regulation 2 of the Children and Young Persons (Weekend Detention) Regulations 2001 (G.N. No. S 478/2001) (referred to in these Regulations as the principal Regulations) is amended —
(a)by deleting the words “Juvenile Court” in paragraph (b) of the definitions of “offender” and “probation officer” and substituting in each case the words “Youth Court”; and
(b)by deleting the words “Juvenile Court under section 44(1)(fa)” in the definition of “weekend detention order” and substituting the words “Youth Court under section 44(1)(h)”.
Amendment of regulation 4
3.  Regulation 4 of the principal Regulations is amended —
(a)by deleting the words “Juvenile Court” and substituting the words “Youth Court”; and
(b)by deleting the words “section 44(1D)” in paragraph (b) and substituting the words “section 44(5)”.
Amendment of regulation 9
4.  Regulation 9(4) of the principal Regulations is amended —
(a)by deleting the words “the Magistrate of the Juvenile Court” and substituting the words “a judge of the Youth Court”; and
(b)by deleting the words “section 44(1D)” and substituting the words “section 44(5)”.
Amendment of regulation 10
5.  Regulation 10 of the principal Regulations is amended —
(a)by deleting the words “Juvenile Court” wherever they appear in paragraphs (1), (3), (4), (5) and (6) and substituting in each case the words “Youth Court”; and
(b)by deleting the words “section 44(1D)(b)” in paragraph (6) and substituting the words “section 44(5)(b)”.
Miscellaneous amendments
6.  The principal Regulations are amended by deleting the words “Juvenile Court” in the following provisions and substituting in each case the words “Youth Court”:
Regulations 3, 5 and 8(c).
