Sale of Food (Food Establishments)
(Amendment) Regulations 2018

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 56(1) of the Sale of Food Act, the Minister for National Development makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations are the Sale of Food (Food Establishments) (Amendment) Regulations 2018 and come into operation on 1 February 2018.

Amendment of regulation 1

2. Regulation 1 of the Sale of Food (Food Establishments) Regulations (Rg 5) (called in these Regulations the principal Regulations) is amended by deleting the words “Food Establishments” and substituting the words “Non‑Retail Food Business”.

Amendment of regulation 2

3. Regulation 2 of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting the definitions of “food establishment” and “licence” and substituting the following definitions:

“ “food establishment” means any place or any premises or part thereof used for the sale, or for the preparation or manufacture for sale, or for the storage or packing for sale, of food, whether cooked or not, intended for human consumption;

“licensed food establishment” means any food establishment used by a licensee to carry on the licensee’s non-retail food business;”.

Amendment of regulation 5

4. Regulation 5 of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting the words “the food establishment in respect of which the licence has been granted” and substituting the words “his licensed food establishment”.

Amendment of regulation 11

5. Regulation 11 of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting the words “licensed premises any food which is unsound or unfit for human consumption” and substituting the words “licensed food establishment any unsafe or unsuitable food”.
