Merchant Shipping (Fees)
(Amendment) Regulations 2016
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 213 of the Merchant Shipping Act, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, with the approval of the Minister for Transport, makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations are the Merchant Shipping (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations 2016 and come into operation on 1 January 2017.
Amendment of regulation 2
2.  Regulation 2 of the Merchant Shipping (Fees) Regulations (Rg 17) (called in these Regulations the principal Regulations) is amended —
(a)by deleting the words “the Schedule” in paragraphs (1) and (2) and substituting in each case the words “the First Schedule”; and
(b)by deleting the words “an owner of a ship may, at his option, pay to the Director an annual administrative fee of $600 (inclusive of GST of $39.25) for the ship” in paragraph (2) and substituting the words “an owner of a ship of a tonnage set out in the first column of the Second Schedule may, at the option of the owner, pay to the Director the corresponding annual administrative fee specified in the second column of that Schedule”.
Amendment of Schedule
3.  The Schedule to the principal Regulations is amended —
(a)by deleting the words “or sea‑service record” in item 6 of Part IV and substituting the words “of sea‑service record”; and
(b)by renaming the Schedule as the First Schedule.
New Second Schedule
4.  The principal Regulations are amended by inserting, immediately after the First Schedule, the following Schedule:
