Singapore Tourism (Tourist Guides)
Regulations 2014
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 26 of the Singapore Tourism Board Act, the Singapore Tourism Board, with the approval of Mr S Iswaran, Second Minister for Trade and Industry, charged with the responsibility for the portfolio of the Minister for Trade and Industry relating to tourism, hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Singapore Tourism (Tourist Guides) Regulations 2014 and shall come into operation on 7 October 2014.
Register of guides at places or points of interest
2.  For the purposes of identifying the persons described in section 19B(2) of the Act, the owner or operator of a place or point of interest must —
(a)maintain a register, in such form and manner as the Board may specify, of persons who are employed or engaged, or whose services are otherwise used, by the owner or operator to guide tourists at that place or point; and
(b)issue to such persons a badge or other document indicating that the owner or operator is employing or engaging them or using their services.
Prescribed website under section 19D of Act
3.  Any criteria and requirements of the Board for an application for or renewal of a tourist guide licence is to be published on the Board’s Internet website at http://www.stb.gov.sg.
Prohibition of conveying tourists together with unlicensed tourist guides
4.  An owner, an operator or a driver of a motor vehicle may use the motor vehicle or permit the motor vehicle to be used to convey tourists into Singapore or to a place or point of interest in Singapore only —
(a)where there is no tourist guide on board the motor vehicle; or
(b)where there is a tourist guide on board the motor vehicle, the tourist guide is in possession of a valid tourist guide badge.
Prescribed fees
5.—(1)  The fees specified in the second column of the Schedule shall be payable in respect of the matters specified opposite in the first column.
(2)  The fees specified in the Schedule are inclusive of goods and services tax chargeable under the Goods and Services Tax Act (Cap. 117A) on the matters in respect of which the fees are payable.
Waiver, remission or refund of fees
6.  The Chief Executive may, as the Chief Executive thinks fit, waive, remit or refund, wholly or in part, any fee paid or payable under these Regulations.
Revocation
7.  The Singapore Tourism (Licensing and Control of Tourist Guides) Regulations (Rg 1) are revoked.
