Central Provident Fund Act
(Chapter 36)
Central Provident Fund (Amendment) Rules 2002
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 77(2)(f) of the Central Provident Fund Act, the Central Provident Fund Board hereby makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules may be cited as the Central Provident Fund (Amendment) Rules 2002 and shall come into operation on 1st January 2003.
Amendment of rule 4
2.  Rule 4 of the Central Provident Fund Rules (R 3) (referred to in these Rules as the principal Rules) is amended —
(a)by deleting the words “Payment Schedule Form” and substituting the words “form known as the Payment Advice”; and
(b)by deleting the rule heading and substituting the following rule heading:
Payment Advice”.
Amendment of rule 5
3.  Rule 5 of the principal Rules is amended —
(a)by deleting the words “Payment Schedule Form” in paragraph (1) and substituting the words “Payment Advice”;
(b)by deleting the word “Form” in paragraph (2) and substituting the words “Payment Advice”;
(c)by inserting, immediately after the words “in these Rules” in paragraph (3), the words “(including the Payment Advice)”; and
(d)by deleting the words “Payment Schedule Form” in the rule heading and substituting the words “Payment Advice”.
Deletion and substitution of rule 6
4.  Rule 6 of the principal Rules is deleted and the following rule substituted therefor:
Entries to be made in Payment Advice
6.  Every employer shall, unless otherwise authorised by the Board under rule 5(3), duly complete the Payment Advice in respect of each of his employees each month and submit such forms together with the amount of contributions payable for his employees in the manner prescribed by regulations made under section 77(1)(a) of the Act.”.
Amendment of rule 7
5.  Rule 7 of the principal Rules is amended by deleting paragraph (1) and substituting the following paragraph:
(1)  An employer may amend any entry in a Payment Advice submitted under rule 6 in such manner as may be determined by the Board, prior to the Board’s acceptance of the Payment Advice.”.
New rules 25 and 26
6.  The principal Rules are amended by inserting, immediately after rule 24, the following rules:
Submission of forms, etc., through electronic means
25.  The Board may, subject to such terms and conditions as it may impose, allow any form, document or information which may be submitted under rule 4, 5, 6, 7 or 11, to be submitted in such electronic form and by such electronic means as the Board may determine.
Forms, etc., sent or made available by the Board in electronic form
26.  The Board may send or make available to any employer any form, document or information under rule 4, 5, 6, 7 or 10 in electronic form and by electronic means.”.
