(SFF x SWITCH — Exemption)
Order 2019
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 142 of the Road Traffic Act, the Minister for Transport makes the following Order:
Citation
1.  This Order is the Road Traffic (SFF x SWITCH — Exemption) Order 2019.
Definitions
2.  In this Order —
“chauffeured private hire car” means a motor car that —
(a)does not ply for hire on any road; and
(b)is hired, or made available for hire, under a contract (express or implied) for use as a whole with a driver for the purpose of conveying the hirer, and one or more passengers (if any), in that car;
“exempt company” means the company known as SingEx Exhibition Ventures Pte. Ltd. (UEN 200008259Z);
“SFF x SWITCH” means the event known as the Singapore FinTech Festival and the Singapore Week of Innovation and TeCHnology taking place in Singapore between 8 November 2019 and 17 November 2019 (both dates inclusive), and includes any meetings and social events connected with the event.
Exemption
3.  Sections 101, 106 and 107 of the Act, and Parts II and VI of the Road Traffic (Public Service Vehicles) Rules (R 14) do not apply to, or in relation to, any vehicle bearing a chassis number and an engine number specified in the Schedule that is used as a chauffeured private hire car between 8 November 2019 and 17 November 2019 (both dates inclusive) for the purpose of the SFF x SWITCH, if all of the following conditions are satisfied in relation to the vehicle:
(a)the vehicle is used only by the exempt company, or by any individual acting under the direction of the exempt company;
(b)the vehicle must display a label issued by the Registrar in the manner the Registrar requires;
(c)there is in force, at any time the vehicle is used on any road, a policy of insurance in relation to the use of that vehicle as a chauffeured private hire car, insuring against any liability in respect of the death of or bodily injury sustained by, or property damage suffered by, any person caused by or arising out of the use of that vehicle;
(d)the risk under the policy of insurance mentioned in sub‑paragraph (c) is assumed by an insurer who, at the time of the issuance of the policy, is lawfully carrying on an insurance business in Singapore;
(e)the vehicle and any of its accessories or appurtenances are clean, in proper repair and in good order and condition at all times.
