Muslim Marriage and Divorce
(Amendment) Rules 2017
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 145 of the Administration of Muslim Law Act, the President of Singapore makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules are the Muslim Marriage and Divorce (Amendment) Rules 2017 and come into operation on 1 January 2018.
Amendment of rule 2
2.  Rule 2(1) of the Muslim Marriage and Divorce Rules (R 1) is amended by deleting the definition of “Secretary”.
Miscellaneous amendments
3.  The Muslim Marriage and Divorce Rules are amended —
(a)by deleting the word “Secretary” wherever it appears in the following provisions and substituting in each case the words “Chief Executive”:
Rules 39(2), (3), (4), (5), (7), (8), (11), (12), (14), (18)(a) and (c), (19) and (20), 40(2), (3), (4), (5) and (7) and 41(1) and (4);
(b)by deleting the word “Secretary” in the following Forms in the First Schedule and substituting in each case the words “Chief Executive”:
Forms 47, 49, 50 and 51; and
(c)by deleting the word “SECRETARY” in the heading of Part II of the Third Schedule and substituting the words “CHIEF EXECUTIVE”.
