(MediShield Scheme)
(Amendment No. 3) Regulations 2013

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 57 of the Central Provident Fund Act, Mr Tan Chuan-Jin, Senior Minister of State, charged with the responsibility of the Minister for Manpower, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Central Provident Fund (MediShield Scheme) (Amendment No. 3) Regulations 2013 and shall come into operation on 1st January 2014.

Amendment of regulation 5

2. Regulation 5(4) of the Central Provident Fund (MediShield Scheme) Regulations (Rg 20) (referred to in these Regulations as the principal Regulations) is amended by deleting the words “regulations 22 and 23” and substituting the words “regulation 22”.

Amendment of regulation 6

3. Regulation 6(1) of the principal Regulations is amended —

(a)	by deleting the words “himself terminated such cover under regulation 22 or 23” in sub-paragraphs (a) and (b)(iii) and substituting in each case the words “had such cover terminated under regulation 22”; and
(b)	by deleting the words “or 23, whether by himself or any other person” in sub-paragraphs (f)(iii), (g)(iii), (h)(iii), (i)(iv) and (j)(v).

Amendment of regulation 8

4. Regulation 8(8) of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting paragraph (a).

Amendment of regulation 22

5. Regulation 22 of the principal Regulations is amended —

(a)

by deleting the words “who is not insured as a dependant” in paragraph (1);

(b)

by deleting the words “referred to in paragraph (1)” in paragraphs (2) and (3);

(c)

by deleting the words “by him” in paragraph (2)(a) and (b);

(d)

by deleting the words “, 23(3) or (4)” in paragraph (4); and

(e)

by deleting the regulation heading and substituting the following regulation heading:

“Termination of insurance cover”.

Deletion of regulation 23

6. Regulation 23 of the principal Regulations is deleted.

Amendment of regulation 24

7. Regulation 24(1) of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting the words “or 23, as the case may be”.

Amendment of regulation 27

8. Regulation 27 of the principal Regulations is amended —

(a)

by deleting the words “for himself” in paragraph (a); and

(b)

by deleting paragraph (c) and substituting the following paragraph:

“(c)	by or on behalf of an insured person to terminate his insurance cover,”.

Amendment of regulation 28

9. The principal Regulations are amended by renumbering regulation 28 as paragraph (1) of that regulation, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following paragraphs:

“(2) Any reference in these Regulations to the termination of insurance cover under the Scheme pursuant to regulation 22 shall be construed to include a reference to the termination of insurance cover under the Scheme pursuant to the revoked termination provision before 1st January 2014.

(3) Any reference in these Regulations to a written notice to terminate insurance cover under the Scheme pursuant to regulation 22 shall be construed to include a reference to a written notice to terminate insurance cover under the Scheme pursuant to the revoked termination provision before 1st January 2014.

(4) Any reference in these Regulations to the refund of any premium pursuant to regulation 22 shall be construed to include a reference to the refund of any premium pursuant to the revoked termination provision before 1st January 2014.

(5) In this regulation, “revoked termination provision” means regulation 23 of these Regulations as in force before 1st January 2014, or any earlier provisions corresponding to that regulation.”.
