2.—(1) Animals imported from any country, other than Malaysia, for the purpose of slaughter shall, immediately on arrival, enter a quarantine station and there undergo quarantine for a period of not less than 10 days and shall thereafter proceed direct to an abattoir or to another quarantine station and there remain until required for slaughter.
(2) (a) Any dog or cat imported from a place, other than the United Kingdom, Eire, Northern Ireland, Australia or New Zealand, shall, immediately on arrival, be placed in quarantine at a quarantine station and shall there be vaccinated with an approved anti-rabies vaccine, ear-tattooed and detained in quarantine for a period of not less than 30 days immediately after the vaccination.
(b) If the dog or cat is less than 3 months old at the time of arrival, it shall remain in quarantine until it shall attain that age whereupon it shall be vaccinated and remain a further 30 days after vaccination. In the case of a dog, it shall also be ear-tattooed at the time of vaccination.

(3) The Director may exempt any animal or bird from this rule.
