Citation
1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Building Control (Installation and Retrofitting of Air-conditioning Units) Regulations.
Installation of air-conditioning unit
2.  Subject to regulation 4, a trained worker employed to carry out installation works relating to an air-conditioning unit under section 22B(1) of the Act shall install a structural supporting system for the air-conditioning unit that complies with the specifications set out in Part I, II or III of the Schedule, as the case may be.
Retrofitting of existing air-conditioning unit
3.—(1)  An owner of any premises or building who is required under section 22C of the Act to retrofit an air-conditioning unit or timber-framed opening or both installed on the exterior of the premises or building shall employ a trained worker to carry out the retrofitting works.
(2)  Subject to regulation 4, a trained worker employed to carry out the retrofitting works referred to in paragraph (1) shall install a structural supporting system for the air-conditioning unit that complies with the specifications set out in Part I, II or III of the Schedule, as the case may be.

4.  A trained worker referred to in regulation 2 or 3(2) may depart from the specifications set out in Part I, II or III of the Schedule if, but only if, he has obtained the prior written approval of the Commissioner of Building Control to such departure.
Installation report
5.  A person who is required under section 22E(1) of the Act to submit a report of the completed installation or retrofitting works relating to an air-conditioning unit shall submit the report to the Commissioner of Building Control within 14 days of the completion of the installation or retrofitting works.
Penalty
6.  Any person who, without reasonable excuse, contravenes or fails to comply with regulation 2, 3 or 5 shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $5,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months or to both.
