Requirements for major sporting event organiser
15.—(1)  A sporting event organiser for a major sporting event to which this Part applies must take all reasonably practicable measures —
(a)to ensure no audience participation during the crowd management period of the major sporting event;
(b)to minimise any physical interaction during the crowd management period of the major sporting event, between any individual participating in the sporting activity played or conducted at the sporting event and any non‑participant within the sports venue where the sporting event takes place or is to take place;
(c)to ensure that the total number of countable persons within the reserved playing space in the sports venue where the major sporting event takes place or is to take place does not exceed —
(i)50 where the major sporting event is a spectator sporting event; or
(ii)100 where the major sporting event is a participation sporting event;

(d)to comply with —
(i)the major participation sporting event capacity requirement in regulation 5(3) where the sporting event is a participation sporting event; and
(ii)the participant cohorting requirement in regulation 5(4)(b) during the crowd management period of the sporting event and with respect to the sports venue where the sporting event takes place or is to take place;
(e)to provide temporary barriers along a route in a public place where the sporting activity takes place so as to prevent people from falling as well as to retain, separate, control, guide and protect the athletes participating in the sporting activity, and stop other people from joining or viewing the sporting activity; and
(f)to ensure that every direction given under regulation 19(3) with respect to that sporting event is complied with during the crowd management period of the sporting event.
(2)  In addition, a sporting event organiser for a major sporting event to which this Part applies must take all reasonably practicable measures to ensure that at all times during the crowd management period of the major sporting event —
(a)only an athlete or a contestant engaged in or playing the sporting activity at the sporting event is unmasked;
(b)every other athlete or contestant wears a mask when not engaged in or playing the sporting activity at the sporting event where he or she is not authorised under any Control Order or has no reasonable excuse to be unmasked;
(c)every individual in the sports venue where the sporting event is taking place is each wearing a mask if the individual is not authorised under any Control Order to not wear a mask or he or she does not have a reasonable excuse to be unmasked; and
(d)the number of individuals who are unmasked in the sports venue where the major sporting event is taking place does not exceed the maximum number permissible under the COVID‑19 (Temporary Measures) (Performances and Other Activities — Control Order) Regulations 2020 if those Regulations apply to elements present during the sporting event.
