Citation

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Medicines (Labelling of Aspirin Products) Regulations.

Particulars of label

2.—(1) No person shall sell or supply any medicinal product containing aspirin or acetylsalcylic acid unless there is affixed to or displayed on the container or package of the medicinal product a label containing the following caution in English:

“Caution: Not to be given to persons below the age of 16 years except under the direction of a doctor.”.

(2) The caution referred to in paragraph (1) shall be printed or otherwise marked legibly and in a prominent position on the label of the container or package so as to be easily read by an intending purchaser or user of the medicinal product under normal conditions of purchase or use.

Labelling for sheets or strips

3. Where a container, which is in the form of a bubble, blister or other sealed unit, is part of a continuous series comprising a sheet or strip of like containers, regulation 2(1) shall be deemed to have been complied with if the caution referred to in that regulation is printed or displayed or otherwise marked in a prominent position at frequent intervals on the sheet or strip of the container.

Penalty

4. Any person who contravenes or fails to comply with regulation 2 or 3 shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $2,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months or to both.
