(Polling Stations)
Regulations 2019
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 102 of the Parliamentary Elections Act, the Prime Minister makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations are the Parliamentary Elections (Polling Stations) Regulations 2019 and come into operation on 1 April 2019.
Notice under section 37(1) of Act
2.—(1)  The notice mentioned in section 37(1) of the Act for an election must contain the following information for each candidate at the election:
(a)the name of the candidate, in English, Malay, Chinese and Tamil;
(b)the symbol allotted to the candidate, or the group of candidates comprising the candidate, under section 34 or 34A of the Act, as the case may be;
(c)the name of the political party (if any) for which the candidate is standing at the election, in English, Malay, Chinese and Tamil;
(d)where the photograph of the candidate is included on the ballot papers for the election under section 40A(1) of the Act, that photograph;
(e)where the photograph of the candidate is not included on the ballot papers for the election (by reason of non‑compliance with section 40A(1) of the Act), a note that there is no photograph for the candidate.
(2)  The names of the candidates at the election must be arranged on the notice —
(a)where the election is in a group representation constituency, in the same order as they are arranged on the ballot papers for the election under section 40(3)(a) and (aa) of the Act; or
(b)in any other case, in the same order as they are arranged on the ballot papers for the election under section 40(2)(a) of the Act.
Number of polling agents permitted in polling station
3.  The number of polling agents that may be admitted to a polling station in an electoral division under section 39(5) of the Act is to be calculated as follows:
(a)where the electoral division is a group representation constituency — for every 1,000 (or, if there remains fewer than 1,000, that remaining number of) electors allotted to the polling station under section 36A(1)(c) of the Act, one polling agent for each group of candidates contesting the election in the electoral division;
(b)in any other case — for every 1,000 (or, if there remains fewer than 1,000, that remaining number of) electors allotted to the polling station under section 36A(1)(c) of the Act, one polling agent for each candidate contesting the election in the electoral division.
