Public Entertainments (Miscellaneous Exemptions) (Consolidation) Order

Citation

1. This Order may be cited as the Public Entertainments (Miscellaneous Exemptions) (Consolidation) Order.

Consolidation of exemptions

2. The following classes of public entertainments are exempted from the provisions of the Public Entertainments Act:

(1)

Athletic meetings and other sporting contests between persons provided by —

(a)	a school registered or exempted under the provisions of the Education Act [Cap. 87];
(b)	the National University of Singapore;
(c)	the Singapore Polytechnic; and
(d)	the Ngee Ann Polytechnic.

(2)

Any academic activity undertaken by a school registered or exempted under the provisions of the Education Act:

Provided that the prior approval in writing has been granted by the Minister for Education or officers authorised by him in that behalf.

(3)

Amateur athletic meetings and sporting contests between persons which are provided by a society registered under the provisions of the Societies Act [Cap. 311].

(4)

The Annual Convocation of and the public lectures organised by —

(a)	the National University of Singapore;
(b)	the Singapore Polytechnic; and
(c)	the Ngee Ann Polytechnic.

(5)

Any exhibitions or screenings of cinematographic films from the film library of the Ministry of the Environment held in any place to which the public or any class of the public has access, whether gratuitous or otherwise.

All public entertainments organised or sponsored by the Management Committee of the Kreta Ayer People’s Theatre and held in that Theatre.

(8)

(a)	Transmission of recorded-music in the premises of hotels, shopping centres, offices and clinics. [S 341/87] [1.1.88]
(b)	Transmission of recorded-music or live-band music provided at weddings held in HDB void decks or along the roadside in non-HDB areas (including those held in the compounds of private houses).
(c)	Exhibition of films relating to exhibits displayed at exhibition sites and those relating to the promotion of products in shopping centres.
