Public Order
(Special Notice — Prescribed Crowd Size
and Period) Regulations 2017
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 47 of the Public Order Act, the Minister for Home Affairs makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations are the Public Order (Special Notice — Prescribed Crowd Size and Period) Regulations 2017 and come into operation on 1 October 2017.
Prescribed crowd size
2.—(1)  For the purposes of section 6A(1) of the Act, the prescribed number of individuals is —
(a)for a private event, 10,000 individuals; or
(b)for a public event, 5,000 individuals.
(2)  In this regulation —
“private event” means an event that is not a public event;
“public event” means an event that is held in a public place.
Prescribed period
3.  For the purposes of section 6A(2) of the Act, the prescribed period is as follows:
(a)for an election meeting to which the Public Order (Election Meetings and Processions in Parliamentary Elections) Regulations 2009 (G.N. No. S 486/2009) apply, the period between the time mentioned in regulation 5(2) of those Regulations and the day on which the election meeting is to be held;

(b)for an election meeting to which the Public Order (Election Meetings and Processions in Presidential Elections) Regulations 2017 (G.N. No. S 273/2017) apply, the period between the time mentioned in regulation 5(2) of those Regulations and the day on which the election meeting is to be held;

(c)for any other event, 28 days.
