Section 2 Theory of Riding
1. Rider and motor-cycle
(a) Human senses and judgment associated with riding: factors of riding, reaction time, eyesight and field of vision, judgment of distance and speed, and the discrepancies caused by fatigue, alcohol and drugs.
(b) Basic structure of motor-cycle: engine, mechanism of transmitting driving force, braking mechanism and wheels.
(c) Controls of motorcycles: throttle grip, front brake lever and rear brake pedal, clutch lever, gear shift pedal and switches.
(d) Natural forces and motor-cycle: centre of gravity, inertia, centrifugal force and friction.
(e) Vehicle inspection: fuel, oil, tyre, brake, clutch, chain and lights.
2. Before going on the road
(a) Riding wear: helmet, shirts, gloves, pants and shoes.
(b) Riding posture and getting on and off motor-cycle.
