Rules 5(3), 9(1)(d) and (2)(e)
Practical Riding Test, Practical Driving Test and Proficiency Driving Test
Part I
An applicant for a Class 2, 2A or 2B licence shall be deemed to have passed the Practical Riding Test which shall be conducted —
(a)in the case of an applicant for a Class 2B licence who takes the Practical Riding Test on or after 1st November 1995, in the circuit and on the road (unless expressly provided otherwise); and
(b)in any other case, in the circuit only,
if he satisfies the person conducting the test that he is able to —
(i)start the engine of the motor vehicle;
(ii)move away straight ahead or at an angle;
(iii)overtake, meet or cross the path of other vehicles and take an appropriate course;
(iv)turn right-hand and left-hand corners correctly;
(v)manoeuvre the “S” shaped and crank-shaft shaped paths within the circuit at a reasonable speed without hitting the kerb or losing balance;
(vi)manoeuvre the slalom path within the circuit at a reasonable speed without hitting the pylon or losing balance;
(vii)manoeuvre the narrow plank within the circuit at a reasonable speed without losing balance;
(viii)in the case of an applicant for a Class 2 or 2A licence only, manoeuvre the bumpy path within the circuit at a reasonable speed without losing balance;
(ix)in the case of an applicant for a Class 2 licence only, lift up a Class 2 motor vehicle that is lying on the ground within the circuit and push it round a figure “8”;
(x)in the case of an applicant for a Class 2 licence only, park a Class 2 motor vehicle on its centre stand within the circuit;
(xi)stop the motor vehicle in an emergency and under normal circumstances, and in the latter case bring it to a halt at an appropriate part of the road;
(xii)stop the motor vehicle on a slope and re-start it;
(xiii)give, by hand and by mechanical means, in a clear and unmistakable manner appropriate signals at appropriate times to indicate his intended actions; and
(xiv)act correctly and promptly on all signals given by traffic signs and traffic controllers and take appropriate action on signals given by other road users,
and generally, that he is competent to drive without danger to, and with due consideration for other users of the road, a motor vehicle of the same class as that on which he is tested.
Part II
An applicant shall be deemed to have passed the Practical Driving Test which shall be conducted within the circuit and on the roads if he satisfies the person conducting the test that he is able to —
(a)start the engine of the motor vehicle;
(b)move away straight ahead or at an angle;
(c)overtake, meet or cross the path of other vehicles and take an appropriate course;
(d)turn right-hand and left-hand corners correctly;
(da)U-turn at intersections, junctions or any opening in road dividers without causing any hindrance to other road users;

(e)manoeuvre the “S” shaped and crank-shaft shaped paths without hitting the kerb;
(f)stop the motor vehicle in an emergency and under normal circumstances, and in the latter case bring it to a halt at an appropriate part of the road;
(g)in the case of an applicant for a class 3, 4 or 5 licence, stop the motor vehicle on a slope and re-start it;

(h)drive the motor vehicle backwards and whilst so doing enter a limited opening to the right or to the left;
(i)cause the motor vehicle to face in the opposite direction by the use of forward and reverse gears;
(j)give, by hand and by mechanical means (if fitted to a vehicle) or, in the case of a disabled driver for whom it is impracticable or undesirable to give signals by hand, by mechanical means, in a clear and unmistakable manner appropriate signals at appropriate times to indicate his intended actions;
(k)act correctly and promptly on all signals given by traffic signs and traffic controllers and to take appropriate action on signs given by other road users;
(l)competently drive, without danger to, and with due consideration for, other users of the road, a motor vehicle of the same class as that on which he is tested;
(la)in the case of an applicant for a class 3A licence, drive-up or reverse-up and stop on a hump;

(lb)in the case of an applicant for a class 3 licence, drive-up or reverse-up and stop on a hump using a class 3A vehicle;

(lc)in the case of an applicant for a class 3 licence, competently drive a class 3A vehicle without danger to, and with due consideration for, other users of the road;

(m)in the case of an applicant for a Class 4 licence, secure a load on the motor vehicle in a manner such that the load remains secure while the motor vehicle is being driven;
(n)in the case of an applicant for a Class 4 or 5 licence, estimate the overall height of the motor vehicle without the use of any measuring instrument; and
(o)in the case of an applicant for a Class 4 or 5 licence, answer correctly such questions on the meanings and implications of traffic signs as the person conducting the test may put to him.
Part III
An applicant for a Class 4, 4A or 5 licence shall be deemed to have passed the Proficiency Driving Test which shall be conducted within the circuit if he satisfies the person conducting the test that he is able to —
(a)stop the motor vehicle in an emergency and under normal circumstances, and in the latter case bring it to a halt at an appropriate part of the road;
(b)manoeuvre the “S” shaped path without hitting any object placed on both sides of the path;
(c)move straight ahead at a speed of 40 km/h through a straight and narrow path;
(d)turn right-hand and left-hand corners correctly;
(e)give, by hand and by mechanical means (if fitted to a vehicle) in a clear and unmistakable manner, appropriate signals at appropriate times to indicate his intended action;
(f)act correctly and promptly on all signals given by traffic signs and traffic controllers and to take appropriate action on signs given by other road users;
(g)competently drive, without danger to, and with due consideration for, other users of the road, a motor vehicle of the same class as that on which he is tested;
(h)in the case of an applicant for a Class 4 licence, secure a load on the motor vehicle in a manner such that the load remains secure while the motor vehicle is being driven;
(i)in the case of an applicant for a Class 4 or 5 licence, estimate the overall height of the motor vehicle without the use of any measuring instrument; and
