Citation
1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Singapore Council of Social Service Regulations.
Request for nominations
2.  One month prior to be the annual general meeting for the election of the Board of Management of the Council, the General Secretary of the Council shall request nominations by members of represented or associated organisations who have been confirmed as representatives of such organisations in accordance with section 13(2) of the Act for the posts of President, Vice-President, General Secretary, Treasurer and members of the Council in accordance with section 13 (1)(a) and (b) of the Act.
Nomination forms
3.  Nominees for election shall be proposed and seconded on prescribed forms which shall be signed by the nominee as signifying his willingness and eligibility for office.
Nominating committee
4.—(1)  Notwithstanding any other provisions of these Regulations, a nominating committee shall be established and shall consist of —
(a)two representatives from the Council;
(b)two representatives from the Ministry of Community Development; and
(c)one representative from the Department of Social Work, National University of Singapore.
(2)  The nominating committee may nominate members of represented or associated organisations who have been confirmed as representatives of such organisations for election in accordance with section 13 (1)(a) and (b) of the Act.
(3)  The nominating committee may, in its discretion, without assigning any reason, reject any nomination from represented or associated organisations.
Notice of nomination
5.  Notice of nomination approved by the nominating committee shall be sent by post to full and associate members of the Council as well as affixed onto the notice board at the Council’s registered office not less than 7 days before the annual general meeting, and only members approved by the nominating committee are eligible for election.
Elections
6.  Election shall be by ballot and based on a simple majority vote of the members present at the annual general meeting. In the case of an equality of votes in respect of any particular post, the President of the Council shall be entitled to a casting vote.
