Criminal Justice (Temporary Provisions) (Amendment) Bill

An Act to amend the Criminal Justice (Temporary Provisions) Act (Chapter 111 of the Revised Edition).
Be it enacted by the President with the advice and consent of the Parliament of Singapore, as follows: —
Short title and commencement
1.  This Act may be cited as the Criminal Justice (Temporary Provisions) (Amendment) Act, 1975, and shall come into operation on such date as the Minister may, by notification in the Gazette, appoint.
Amendment of section 3
2.  Section 3 of the Criminal Justice (Temporary Provisions) Act is hereby amended —
(a)by deleting the word “eighteen” appearing in the first line of subsection (1) thereof and substituting therefor the word “sixteen”;
(b)by deleting the words “other sentence” appearing in the eighth line of subsection (1) thereof and substituting therefor the words “sentence of imprisonment”; and
(c)by deleting the words “other sentence” appearing in the seventh line of subsection (2) thereof and substituting therefor the words “sentence of imprisonment”.
Amendment of First Schedule
3.  The First Schedule to the Criminal Justice (Temporary Provisions) Act is hereby amended by deleting sub-paragraphs (c), (d) and (e) of paragraph 1 thereof and substituting therefor the following: —
(c)sections 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 of the Misuse of Drugs Act, 1973 (Act 5 of 1973);
(d)section 3 of the Arms Offences Act, 1973 (Act 61 of 1973);”.
