An Act relating to the workmen’s dwellings erected with moneys from the Princess Elizabeth Wedding Central Celebrations Fund.

Short title
1.  This Act may be cited as the Princess Elizabeth Fund Act.
Interpretation
2.  In this Act, unless there is something repugnant in the subject or context —
“Board” means the Housing and Development Board established by section 3 of the Housing and Development Act [Cap. 129];
“dwellings” means the workmen's dwellings that were erected with the balance of the moneys in the Fund;
“Fund” means the Princess Elizabeth Wedding Central Celebrations Fund.
Letting and maintenance of workmen’s dwellings
3.—(1)  The Board shall let out the dwellings to suitable workmen at such rents and upon such terms and conditions as it thinks fit, and shall maintain the dwellings in a proper state of repair.
(2)  For the purpose of this section “workmen” includes all manual workers and all artisans who work for wages and does not include any clerical workers, shop assistants, teachers or domestic servants.
Revenue from rents
4.  The rents received from the letting of the dwellings shall be paid into the general funds of the Board in like manner to the amounts received in respect of all other properties owned by the Board.
Workmen’s dwellings not to be sold
5.  In order to carry out the wishes of the Princess Elizabeth Wedding Central Celebrations Committee, the Board or any succeeding authority shall name each lot of the dwellings the “Princess Elizabeth Estate”, and the dwellings shall continue to be let out to suitable workmen as described in section 3(2), and shall not be sold except to any authority set up in substitution for the Board.
Powers of Board under Housing and Development Act exercisable
6.  The Board in carrying out the provisions of this Act shall have and may exercise the powers conferred upon it by the Housing and Development Act [Cap. 129] in so far as those powers are not inconsistent with the objects of the Fund.

7.  Notwithstanding anything in the Housing and Development Act, the Board shall have full power to control and manage the dwellings.
