The following Act was passed by Parliament on 11th February 1999 and assented to by the President on 20th February 1999:—
Presidential Elections (Amendment) Act 1999

An Act to amend the Presidential Elections Act (Chapter 240A of the 1992 Revised Edition).
Be it enacted by the President with the advice and consent of the Parliament of Singapore, as follows:
Short title and commencement
1.  This Act may be cited as the Presidential Elections (Amendment) Act 1999 and shall come into operation on such date as the Minister may, by notification in the Gazette, appoint.
New section 8A
2.  The Presidential Elections Act is amended by inserting, immediately after section 8, the following section:
Immunity of Presidential Elections Committee
8A.—(1)  The Presidential Elections Committee shall not, in the absence of malice on its part, be liable to any action at the suit of any person in respect of —
(a)any statement which the Committee makes in the discharge of any of its functions under this Act, whether the statement is made orally or in writing; or
(b)the publication of any document prepared by the Committee in the course of performing its functions under this Act.
(2)  Subsection (1) does not limit or affect any other right, privilege or immunity that the Presidential Elections Committee has, apart from this section, as a defendant in any action.”.
