An Act to amend the Constitution of the Republic of Singapore.
Be it enacted by the President with the advice and consent of the Parliament of Singapore, as follows:
Short title and commencement
1.  This Act may be cited as the Constitution of the Republic of Singapore (Amendment) Act 1986 and shall come into operation on such date as the President may, by notification in the Gazette, appoint.
Amendment of Article 9
2.  Article 9(5) of the Constitution of the Republic of Singapore is amended by inserting, immediately after the words “enemy alien”, the words “or to any person arrested for contempt of Parliament pursuant to a warrant issued under the hand of the Speaker”.
Amendment of Article 46
3.  Article 46(2) of the Constitution of the Republic of Singapore is amended —
(a)by deleting the word “or” at the end of paragraph (d); and
(b)by deleting the full-stop at the end of paragraph (e) and substituting the word “; or”, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following paragraph:
(f)if he is expelled from Parliament in the exercise of its power of expulsion.”.
