Road Traffic (Amendment) Bill

An Act to amend the Road Traffic Act (Chapter 276 of the Revised Edition).
Be it enacted by the President with the advice and consent of the Parliament of Singapore, as follows:
Short title
1.  This Act may be cited as the Road Traffic (Amendment) Act 1994.
Amendment of section 19
2.  Section 19 of the Road Traffic Act (referred to in this Act as the principal Act) is amended —
(a)by inserting, immediately after paragraph (b) of subsection (3), the following paragraph:
(ba)that there is no warrant of arrest issued under section 54 of the Criminal Procedure Code [Cap. 68] against the applicant in respect of any offence committed by him under this Act or the rules or any written law specified in Part I of the Schedule;”; and
(b)by inserting, immediately after subsection (6), the following subsections:
(7)  Subject to subsection (8), the Minister may, by notification published in the Gazette, amend Part I of the Schedule.
(8)  The Minister shall, before exercising his powers under subsection (7), consult the Minister responsible for the written law to which the amendment relates.”.
Amendment of section 35
3.  Section 35 of the principal Act is amended —
(a)by inserting, immediately after the word “rules” at the end of subsection (7A), the words “or any written law specified in Part II of the Schedule”; and
(b)by inserting, immediately after subsection (7A), the following subsections:
(7AA)  Subject to subsection (7AB), the Minister may, by notification published in the Gazette, amend Part II of the Schedule.
(7AB)  The Minister shall, before exercising his powers under subsection (7AA), consult the Minister responsible for the written law to which the amendment relates.”.
New Schedule
4.  The principal Act is amended by inserting, immediately after section 145, the following Schedule:
