(Corrective Training and Preventive Detention)
(Amendment) Regulations 2024
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 428(2)(a) of the Criminal Procedure Code 2010, the Minister for Law makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations are the Criminal Procedure Code (Corrective Training and Preventive Detention) (Amendment) Regulations 2024 and come into operation on 16 May 2024.
Amendment of regulation 27
2.  In the Criminal Procedure Code (Corrective Training and Preventive Detention) Regulations 2010 (G.N. No. S 803/2010) (called in these Regulations the principal Regulations), in regulation 27 —
(a)in the regulation heading, delete “by Minister”;
(b)renumber regulation 27 as paragraph (1) of that regulation;
(c)in paragraph (1), replace “the Minister may” with “the Minister, or a Second Minister, Senior Minister of State, Minister of State, Senior Parliamentary Secretary or Parliamentary Secretary assisting the Minister, may”;
(d)in paragraph (1)(c), replace the comma at the end with a full‑stop;
(e)in paragraph (1), delete “except that the President may require the Minister to release a person so sentenced at any time.”; and
(f)after paragraph (1), insert —
(2)  The President may at any time require the Minister to release a person sentenced to corrective training or preventive detention.”.
Amendment of regulation 28
3.  In the principal Regulations, in regulation 28(1) and (2), replace “Minister” with “Minister, or a Second Minister, Senior Minister of State, Minister of State, Senior Parliamentary Secretary or Parliamentary Secretary assisting the Minister,”.
Amendment of regulation 29
4.  In the principal Regulations, in regulation 29 —
(a)in paragraph (1), replace “the Minister is” with “the Minister, or a Second Minister, Senior Minister of State, Minister of State, Senior Parliamentary Secretary or Parliamentary Secretary assisting the Minister, is”;
(b)in paragraph (1), replace “the Minister may” with “the Minister, Second Minister, Senior Minister of State, Minister of State, Senior Parliamentary Secretary or Parliamentary Secretary (as the case may be) may”;
(c)in paragraph (10), replace “the Minister from” with “the Minister, or a Second Minister, Senior Minister of State, Minister of State, Senior Parliamentary Secretary or Parliamentary Secretary assisting the Minister, from”; and
(d)in paragraph (10), replace “the Minister is” with “the Minister, Second Minister, Senior Minister of State, Minister of State, Senior Parliamentary Secretary or Parliamentary Secretary (as the case may be) is”.
Amendment of regulation 30
5.  In the principal Regulations, in regulation 30, replace “Minister” with “Minister, or a Second Minister, Senior Minister of State, Minister of State, Senior Parliamentary Secretary or Parliamentary Secretary assisting the Minister,”.
