(Car‑Free Sunday SG — Exemption of
Trishaws and Trishaw Riders)
(Amendment) Order 2024
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 142 of the Road Traffic Act 1961, the Minister for Transport makes the following Order:
Citation and commencement
1.  This Order is the Road Traffic (Car‑Free Sunday SG — Exemption of Trishaws and Trishaw Riders) (Amendment) Order 2024 and comes into operation on 16 March 2024.
Amendment of paragraph 1
2.  In the Road Traffic (Car‑Free Sunday SG — Exemption of Trishaws and Trishaw Riders) Order 2016 (G.N. No. S 601/2016), in paragraph 1, replace “Sunday SG” with “Weekend”.
Amendment of paragraph 2
3.  In the Road Traffic (Car‑Free Sunday SG — Exemption of Trishaws and Trishaw Riders) Order 2016, in paragraph 2 —
(a)in sub‑paragraph (1), replace “and 110” with “, 110 and 120(3)”;
(b)in sub‑paragraphs (1), (2) and (3), replace “Sunday SG” with “Weekend”; and
(c)replace sub‑paragraph (4) with —
(4)  In this paragraph —
“Car‑Free Weekend” means any event known as Car‑Free Sunday or Car‑Free Weekend in respect of which a permit has been granted under section 143 of the Act that is organised by or on behalf of all or any of the following:
(a)the Authority;
(b)the Health Promotion Board (established by section 3 of the Health Promotion Board Act 2001);
(c)the National Arts Council (established by section 3 of the National Arts Council Act 1991);
(d)the National Parks Board (established under the repealed National Parks Act (Cap. 198A, 1991 Revised Edition) in force before 1 July 1996 and continued by section 3 of the National Parks Board Act 1996);
(e)the Singapore Sports Council (established by section 3 of the Singapore Sports Council Act 1973);
(f)the Urban Redevelopment Authority (established by section 3 of the Urban Redevelopment Authority Act 1989);
“trishaw” has the meaning given by rule 2 of the Road Traffic (Bicycles, Three‑wheeled Pedal Cycles, Trishaws and Recumbent Devices — Construction and Use) Rules 2024 (G.N. No. S 157/2024).”.
