Legal Profession (Admission)
(Amendment) Rules 2022

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 10(1) of the Legal Profession Act 1966, the Board of Directors of the Singapore Institute of Legal Education, after consulting the Minister for Law and the Council of the Law Society of Singapore, makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules are the Legal Profession (Admission) (Amendment) Rules 2022 and come into operation on 14 January 2022.

Amendment of Second Schedule

2. Form D(3) of the Second Schedule to the Legal Profession (Admission) Rules 2011 (G.N. No. S 244/2011) is amended —

(a)	by inserting, immediately before the words “Legal Service Officer” in paragraphs 1 and 2, the words “Judicial Service Officer/”;
(b)	by inserting, immediately before the words “Singapore Legal Service,” in paragraph 3, the words “Singapore Judicial Service/”; and
(c)	by inserting, immediately before the words “Singapore Legal Service” in footnote d, the words “Singapore Judicial Service or”.

Miscellaneous amendments

3. The Legal Profession (Admission) Rules 2011 are amended by inserting, immediately before the words “a Legal Service Officer” in the following provisions, the words “a Judicial Service Officer or”:

Rule 14(1)(b)(i), (e), (f) and (g), (3), (5)(a) and (6)

Rule 16(2)(d)(i)

Rule 17(2)

Rule 24(1)(c)(ii)(B)

Rule 25(7)(b)

Second Schedule, paragraph 4 of Form A(1)

Second Schedule, footnote e of Form D(4).
