Fire Safety (Exemptions —
Miscellaneous Amendments) Order 2023

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 103 of the Fire Safety Act 1993, the Minister for Home Affairs makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1.—(1) This Order is the Fire Safety (Exemptions — Miscellaneous Amendments) Order 2023 and, except for paragraph 3(c), is deemed to have come into operation on 31 December 2021.

(2) Paragraph 3(c) comes into operation on 7 July 2023.

Amendment of Fire Safety (Exemption) Order

2. In the Fire Safety (Exemption) Order (O 1) —

(a)	in paragraph 2, replace “Section 23(1)” with “Section 55(1)”; and
(b)	in the Schedule, in item 24(a), replace “section 23(1)” with “section 55(1)”.

Amendment of Fire Safety (Exemption) (Temporary Buildings in Construction Sites) Order

3. In the Fire Safety (Exemption) (Temporary Buildings in Construction Sites) Order (O 2) —

(a)	in paragraph 2(1), replace “(Cap. 29)” with “1989”;
(b)	in paragraph 3, replace “sections 23, 24 and 29” with “sections 55, 56 and 60”; and
(c)	in paragraph 3, after “Building”, insert “and Pipeline”.

Amendment of Fire Safety (Flammable Refrigerants — Exemption) Order 2013

4. In the Fire Safety (Flammable Refrigerants — Exemption) Order 2013 (G.N. No. S 544/2013), in paragraph 3, replace “section 35” with “section 78”.

Amendment of Fire Safety (Pipelines — Exemption) Order 2014

5. In the Fire Safety (Pipelines — Exemption) Order 2014 (G.N. No. S 292/2014) —

(a)

in the following provisions, replace “(Cap. 116A)” with “2001”:

Paragraph 2, definitions of “exempt gas transporter”, “gas”, “gas transporter”, “gas pipeline”, “gas transmission pipeline” and “internal pipe”

Paragraph 7(5), definition of “offshore gas pipeline”;

(b)

in the following provisions, replace “section 24(1)” with “section 56(1)”:

Paragraph 3(1), (2) and (3)

Paragraph 7(1);

(c)

in the following provisions, replace “section 29” with “section 60”:

Paragraph 4(1), (2) and (3)

Paragraph 7(2); and

(d)

in the following provisions, replace “section 36A” with “section 82”:

Paragraph 5(1), (3) and (4)

Paragraph 7(3) and (4).
