(Speakers’ Corner — Exemption)
(Amendment) Order 2023
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 23(1) of the Public Entertainments Act 1958, the Minister for Home Affairs makes the following Order:
Citation and commencement
1.—(1)  This Order is the Public Entertainments (Speakers’ Corner — Exemption) (Amendment) Order 2023 and, except for paragraph 3, comes into operation on 1 August 2023.
(2)  Paragraph 3 is deemed to have come into operation on 31 December 2021.
Replacement of paragraph 2A
2.  In the Public Entertainments (Speakers’ Corner — Exemption) Order 2020 (G.N. No. S 551/2020), replace paragraph 2A with —
Non-applicability of paragraphs 3 to 6
2A.  Paragraphs 3 to 6 do not apply —
(a)the whole day on 9 August 2023 if the event known as the National Day Parade 2023 is held on 9 August 2023; and
(b)the whole day on 12 August 2023 if the event known as the National Day Parade 2023 is held on 12 August 2023.”.
Miscellaneous amendments
3.  In the Public Entertainments (Speakers’ Corner — Exemption) Order 2020 —
(a)in paragraph 2(1), in the definition of “Singapore‑controlled partnership”, in paragraph (a), delete “(Act 29 of 2014)”;
(b)in paragraph 2(1), in the definition of “Singapore‑controlled partnership”, in paragraph (b), replace “(Cap. 163B)” with “2008”; and
(c)in paragraphs 3(1), 4(1), 5(1) and 6(1), replace “Section 3” with “Section 4”.
