In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 34 and 140 of the Road Traffic Act, the Minister for Transport makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules are the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) (Amendment No. 6) Rules 2017 and come into operation on 20 December 2017.

Amendment of rule 3F

2. Rule 3F(1) of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) Rules (R 5) (called in these Rules the principal Rules) is amended by deleting “$21.40” and substituting “$32.10”.

Amendment of rule 8

3. Rule 8 of the principal Rules is amended —

(a)	by deleting “$10” in paragraph (6) and substituting “$15”; and
(b)	by deleting “$10.70” in paragraph (14) and substituting “$16.05”.

Amendment of rule 9B

4. Rule 9B(9) of the principal Rules is amended by deleting “$21.40” in sub‑paragraph (c) and substituting “$32.10”.

Amendment of rule 13

5. Rule 13 of the principal Rules is amended —

(a)

by deleting paragraph (1) and substituting the following paragraph:

“(1) The Registrar may, upon an application by any person, provide a copy of or an extract of the entry in the register relating to any vehicle, subject to such conditions as the Registrar may impose and the payment of the fees under this rule.”;

(b)

by deleting “$5.35” in paragraph (2) and substituting “$7.49”;

(c)

by deleting “$21.40” in paragraph (4) and substituting “$35.31”; and

(d)

by inserting, immediately after paragraph (7), the following paragraph:

“(8) Where payment of the applicable fee mentioned in paragraph (2), (3), (4) or (5) is tendered in a form other than cash and the payment is subsequently dishonoured or otherwise not effected, an additional fee for processing the dishonoured payment of $32.10 (inclusive of GST) is payable.”.

Amendment of rule 16

6. Rule 16 of the principal Rules is amended by deleting “$21.40” in paragraphs (4), (10)(a)(ii), (13) and (15)(b) and substituting in each case “$32.10”.

Amendment of rule 22

7. Rule 22 of the principal Rules is amended by deleting “$21.40” in paragraphs (3)(c) and (d), (7)(a)(ii) and (9)(b) and substituting in each case “$32.10”.

Amendment of rule 25

8. Rule 25(4) of the principal Rules is amended by deleting “$10” in sub‑paragraph (ii) and substituting “$25”.

Amendment of rule 26

9. Rule 26(1) of the principal Rules is amended by deleting “$10” in sub‑paragraph (ii) and substituting “$25”.

Amendment of rule 34A

10. Rule 34A of the principal Rules is amended by deleting “$26.75” in paragraphs (3C)(b) and (7) and substituting in each case “$37.45”.

Amendment of rule 34B

11. Rule 34B(10) of the principal Rules is amended by deleting sub‑paragraph (b) and substituting the following sub‑paragraph:

“(b)

be accompanied by the following fees:

(i)

in the case of an application for approval under paragraph (1) or (9), or for extension of approval under paragraph (3) —

(A)	where the approval or extension of approval is for a period that does not exceed one year, a sum of $267.50 (inclusive of GST); or
(B)	where the approval or extension of approval is for a period that exceeds one year but does not exceed 3 years, a sum of $642 (inclusive of GST);

(ii)

in the case of an application for special approval under paragraph (5)(b), a sum of $133.75 (inclusive of GST).”.

Amendment of rule 34C

12. Rule 34C(10) of the principal Rules is amended —

(a)	by deleting “$535” in sub-paragraph (b)(i)(B) and substituting “$642”; and
(b)	by deleting “$107” in sub-paragraph (b)(ii) and substituting “$133.75”.

Amendment of rule 53

13. Rule 53(9) of the principal Rules is amended by deleting “$5.35” and substituting “$17.12”.

Amendment of rule 64B

14. Rule 64B(1) of the principal Rules is amended by deleting “$16.05” in sub‑paragraph (a) and substituting “$25.68”.

Amendment of rule 64C

15. Rule 64C(2) of the principal Rules is amended by deleting “$10.70” in sub‑paragraph (a) and substituting “$16.05”.

Amendment of rule 68

16. Rule 68(2) of the principal Rules is amended by deleting “$21.40” and substituting “$32.10”.

Amendment of First Schedule

17. The First Schedule to the principal Rules is amended —

(a)	by deleting “$140” in items (2), (4), (5) and (6) of Part I and substituting in each case “$220”;
(b)	by deleting “$38.52” in item (1)(a) of Part IC and substituting “$42.80”; and
(c)	by deleting “$11” in Part IV and substituting “$25”.
