Public Order
(Election Meetings and Processions in
Presidential Elections) (Amendment)
Regulations 2023
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 47 of the Public Order Act 2009, the Minister for Home Affairs makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.—(1)  These Regulations are the Public Order (Election Meetings and Processions in Presidential Elections) (Amendment) Regulations 2023 and, except for regulation 6, come into operation on 13 June 2023.
(2)  Regulation 6 is deemed to have come into operation on 31 December 2021.
Amendment of regulation 2
2.  In the Public Order (Election Meetings and Processions in Presidential Elections) Regulations 2017 (G.N. No. S 273/2017) (called in these Regulations the principal Regulations), in regulation 2(b), replace “32A(5)” with “36E(1)”.
Amendment of regulation 3
3.  In the principal Regulations, in regulation 3, in the definition of “election agent”, replace “the person named” with “a person appointed”.
Amendment of regulation 5
4.  In the principal Regulations, in regulation 5(1) —
(a)replace sub‑paragraph (a) with —
(a)by delivering the advance notice in person at the office of the Police Liaison Officer (Elections); or”; and
(b)in sub-paragraph (b), replace “http://www.spf.gov.sg” with “https://www.police.gov.sg”.
Amendment of regulation 11
5.  In the principal Regulations, in regulation 11(1)(b), replace “https://www.spf.gov.sg” with “https://www.police.gov.sg”.
Miscellaneous amendments
6.  In the principal Regulations —
(a)in regulation 2(b), replace “(Cap. 240A)” with “1991”;
(b)in regulation 3, in the definition of “candidate”, replace “(Cap. 240A)” with “1991”;
(c)in regulation 3, in the definitions of “election agent”, “nomination day”, “polling day” and “presidential election”, after “Presidential Elections Act”, insert “1991”;
(d)in regulation 5(4)(c), replace “(Cap. 214)” with “1974”; and
(e)in regulation 6(d), replace “Public Entertainments and Meetings Act (Cap. 257)” with “Public Entertainments Act 1958”.
