Merchant Shipping Act
(Chapter 179)
Merchant Shipping (Load Line) (Amendment) Regulations 2010
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 100 of the Merchant Shipping Act, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, with the approval of the Minister for Transport, hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Load Line) (Amendment) Regulations 2010 and shall come into operation on 1st July 2010.
Amendment of Annex I
2.  Annex I of the Merchant Shipping (Load Line) Regulations (Rg 5) is amended —
(a)by deleting paragraph (3) of regulation 1 and substituting the following paragraph:
(3)   Compliance
(a)Ships constructed before 1st July 2010 shall comply with an intact stability standard acceptable to the Director or any Recognised Organisation.
(b)Ships constructed on or after 1st July 2010 shall, at the minimum, comply with the requirements of Part A of the 2008 IS Code.”; and
(b)by inserting, immediately after paragraph (15) of regulation 3, the following paragraph:
(16)   2008 IS Code. The 2008 IS Code is the International Code on Intact Stability, 2008, consisting of an introduction, Part A (the provisions of which shall be treated as mandatory) and Part B (the provisions of which shall be treated as recommendatory), as adopted by resolution MSC.267(85), and any amendment thereto which has come into force and has been accepted by the Government.”.
