MediShield Life Scheme
(Amendment No. 6) Regulations 2023
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 34 of the MediShield Life Scheme Act 2015, the Minister for Health makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.—(1)  These Regulations are the MediShield Life Scheme (Amendment No. 6) Regulations 2023 and, except for regulation 3(g) to (j), come into operation on 1 December 2023.
(2)  Regulation 3(g) to (j) comes into operation on 1 February 2024.
Amendment of regulation 2
2.  In the MediShield Life Scheme Regulations 2015 (G.N. No. S 622/2015), in regulation 2(1), after the definition of “MediShield Life cover”, insert —
“ “multiple neoplasms” means 2 or more neoplasms that —
(a)arise from different sites;
(b)are of a different histology or morphology group; or
(c)arise from different sites and are of a different histology or morphology group;”.
Amendment of Sixth Schedule
3.  In the MediShield Life Scheme Regulations 2015, in the Sixth Schedule —
(a)in item 7(a), before “only”, insert “in the case of treatment of only one neoplasm —”;
(b)in item 7(b), before “more”, insert “in the case of treatment of only one neoplasm —”;
(c)in item 7, after paragraph (b), insert —
 
“(c)in the case of treatment of multiple neoplasms concurrently — only one of the categories listed in paragraph (a) for each neoplasm
 
The sum of the amount per month specified in respect of the category of the approved cancer drugs administered in that month for each of the neoplasms treated concurrently
 
(d)in the case of treatment of multiple neoplasms concurrently — more than one of the categories listed in paragraph (a) for each neoplasm
 
The sum of the highest amount per month specified in respect of any category of the approved cancer drugs administered in that month for each of the neoplasms treated concurrently
 
(e)in the case of treatment of multiple neoplasms concurrently — only one of the categories listed in paragraph (a) for at least one neoplasm and more than one of those categories for at least one neoplasm
 
The sum of —
(i)the amount per month specified in respect of the category of the approved cancer drugs administered in that month for each neoplasm treated with only one of the categories; and
(ii)the highest amount per month specified in respect of any category of the approved cancer drugs administered in that month for each neoplasm treated with more than one of the categories”;
(d)in item 7A, in the first column, after “(excluding the cost of any cancer drug administered)”, insert “for only one neoplasm,”;
(e)in item 7B, in the first column, after “(excluding the cost of any cancer drug administered)”, insert “for only one neoplasm,”;
(f)after item 7B, insert —
 
“7C.Cancer drug treatment (excluding the cost of any cancer drug administered) for multiple neoplasms concurrently, received as outpatient medical treatment, where treatment is received on or after 1 December 2023
 
$7,200 per year”;
(g)in item 14, in the first column, after “1 April 2020”, insert “but before 1 February 2024”;
(h)after item 14, insert —
 
“14A.General palliative care received as an in‑patient of an approved in‑patient palliative care institution, with admission date on or after 1 February 2024
 
$460 per day”;
(i)in item 15, in the first column, after “1 April 2020”, insert “but before 1 February 2024”; and
(j)after item 15, insert —
 
“15A.Specialised palliative care, or a combination of specialised and general palliative care, received as an in‑patient of an approved in‑patient palliative care institution, with admission date on or after 1 February 2024
 
$500 per day”.
