Patents (Amendment) Rules 2009

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 115 of the Patents Act, the Minister for Law, after consulting with the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore, hereby makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1.—(1) These Rules may be cited as the Patents (Amendment) Rules 2009 and shall, with the exception of rule 3(b), come into operation on 22nd October 2009.

(2) Rule 3(b) shall come into operation on 1st January 2010.

Amendment of rule 2

2. Rule 2(3) of the Patents Rules (R 1) is amended by deleting the words “and the Danish Patent and Trademark Office” and substituting the words “, the Danish Patent and Trademark Office and the Hungarian Patent Office”.

Amendment of First Schedule

3. Item 56B in the First Schedule to the Patents Rules is amended —

(a)

by deleting “2,340” in the second column of paragraph (a) and substituting “3,780”;

(b)

by deleting “2,060” in the second column of paragraph (b) and substituting “2,680”;

(c)

by deleting “2,515” in the second column of paragraph (c) and substituting “3,100”; and

(d)

by inserting, immediately after paragraph (c), the following paragraph:

“

(d) where the Examiner is the Hungarian
Patent Office

”.
