Singapore Citizenship
(Amendment) Rules 2024
In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 140 of, and section 4 of the Third Schedule to, the Constitution of the Republic of Singapore, the Minister for Home Affairs makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules are the Singapore Citizenship (Amendment) Rules 2024 and come into operation on 1 February 2024.
Amendment of rule 3
2.  In the Singapore Citizenship Rules (R 1), in rule 3 —
(a)renumber the rule as paragraph (1) of that rule; and
(b)after paragraph (1), insert —
(2)  In this rule, “Minister” —
(a)in relation to appointing a Registrar of Citizens — includes any Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Home Affairs; and
(b)in relation to appointing a Deputy Registrar of Citizens or an Assistant Registrar of Citizens — includes any Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Commissioner of National Registration.”.
