(Amendment) Rules 2022

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 119(9) of the Road Traffic Act 1961, the Land Transport Authority of Singapore, with the approval of the Minister for Transport, makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules are the Road Traffic (Traffic Signs) (Amendment) Rules 2022 and come into operation on 16 October 2022.

Amendment of rule 7

2. In rule 7 of the Road Traffic (Traffic Signs) Rules (R 33) (called in these Rules the principal Rules) —

(a)

in paragraph (1), replace sub‑paragraph (ja) with —

“(ja)	a part-day bicycle lane;
(jb)	a full-day bicycle lane;”;

(b)

after paragraph (11A), insert —

“(11AA) A part-day bicycle lane is the section of a road, marked by —

(a)	a broken or continuous blue line; and
(b)	a bicycle symbol that appears at regular intervals on that section of the road.

(11AB) The markings mentioned in paragraph (11AA) are shown in diagrams 171, 172, 173(a) and (b) and 174 in Part III of the Schedule.”;

(c)

in paragraph (11B), before “bicycle lane”, insert “full‑day”; and

(d)

in paragraph (11C), replace “diagram 166” with “diagrams 166, 167(a) and (b), 168(a), (b) and (c) and 169”.

Replacement of rule 8A

3. Rule 8A of the principal Rules is replaced with —

“Bicycle lane

8A.—(1) A person must not park a vehicle —

(a)	on a part-day bicycle lane, on a Sunday at any time between 5 a.m. and 11 a.m.; or
(b)	on a full-day bicycle lane at any time.

(2) In this rule —

“full-day bicycle lane” has the meaning given by rule 7(11B);

“part-day bicycle lane” has the meaning given by rule 7(11AA).”.

Amendment of Schedule

4. In the Schedule to the principal Rules, in Part III —

(a)

in diagrams 166, 167(a) and (b) and 170(a) and (b), before “bicycle lane”, insert “full‑day”;

(b)

in the heading for diagram 168(a), before “BICYCLE LANES”, insert “FULL‑DAY”; and

(c)

after diagram 170(b), insert —
