Presidential Elections
(Certificate of Eligibility)
(Amendment) Regulations 2023
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 81 of the Presidential Elections Act 1991, the Prime Minister makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.—(1)  These Regulations are the Presidential Elections (Certificate of Eligibility) (Amendment) Regulations 2023 and, except for regulations 2, 3 and 6, come into operation on 13 June 2023.
(2)  Regulation 3 is deemed to have come into operation on 30 July 2020.
(3)  Regulation 6 is deemed to have come into operation on 31 December 2021.
(4)  Regulation 2 is deemed to have come into operation on 1 April 2023.
Amendment of regulation 13
2.  In the Presidential Elections (Certificate of Eligibility) Regulations 2017 (G.N. No. S 263/2017) (called in these Regulations the principal Regulations), in regulation 13(1), in the definition of “Singapore Accounting Standards”, in paragraph (a), replace “Accounting Standards Council” wherever it appears with “Accounting Standards Committee”.
Amendment of regulation 32
3.  In the principal Regulations, in regulation 32 —
(a)in paragraph (2)(a), replace “wound up under section 254 of the Companies Act” with “wound up under section 254 of the Companies Act in force before 30 July 2020 or under section 125 of the Insolvency, Restructuring and Dissolution Act 2018”; and
(b)in paragraph (3)(a), replace “wound up under the Companies Act” with “wound up under the Companies Act in force before 30 July 2020 or under the Insolvency, Restructuring and Dissolution Act 2018”.
Amendment of regulation 36
4.  In the principal Regulations, in regulation 36 —
(a)in paragraph (2), replace sub-paragraph (b) with —
(b)must remain published for 21 days after the name of the person elected to the office of President is published in the Gazette under section 15 or 34 of the Act.”; and
(b)after paragraph (3), insert —
(4)  To avoid doubt, this regulation does not require the publication of the character references and other supporting documents accompanying an application form.”.
Amendment of Schedule
5.  In the principal Regulations, in the Schedule, replace Form 1 with —
